If you use Windows XP or bellow you can go to Start > Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs. In the Currently installed programs box, click on the program and then click Remove. If you have Windows Vista or above you need to go to Start > Control Panel > Programs > Programs and Features. Select the application and click on Uninstall.
After that, try running AdwCleaner to make sure that there are no leftover rogue registry keys or toolbars in your system.
I have tried to download this update. I thought it was freeware but every time I try to download it, I am asked if I want a free trial. Could someone advise me please?

You can use the official support website in order to download the updates for your application. If you buy the professional version of Acrobat, the updates should be free for all the time your licence is active.
Acrobat.com is a group of online services (files exchange and storage, PDF converter, online word processor, web conferences) with free signup. Adobe Systems Incorporated update the product automatically so you don't need to do anything to update it.
